Village Green Project Makes Significant Strides

Resource Consent granted, plans being finalized and upcoming Community meeting.

The Village Green Project is thrilled to announce major advancements in our mission to create a vibrant communal space that brings our community together in new and exciting ways.

We’ve officially been granted Resource Consent by the Christchurch City Council. This is a pivotal step forward, and we are grateful for the Council’s support throughout this process. Each query was an opportunity to refine our project, ensuring it aligns with environmental standards and community expectations. We’re

committed to transparency and thoroughness as we navigate this essential phase. The Greater New Brighton Charitable Trust (previously the Community Leadership Group), formed to oversee the Village Green Project, is putting the finishing touches on the project’s detailed plans, meticulously designing every feature to reflect both functionality and aesthetic appeal. From landscaping to multipurpose recreational areas, we’re crafting a space that caters to a diverse range of interests and activities.

Concurrently, we’re preparing our building consent application, bringing us one step closer to breaking ground. We have short-listed five companies for the tender phase which will start as soon as the building consent application is finished – anticipated about the end of March. Tender responses are due in May.

Once we have final prices and made any budget-related changes, we’ll hold community meetings to share the detailed plans with you.
