Life in Vacant Spaces (LiVS) to Manage Greater New Brighton Village Green Project

The Greater New Brighton Village Green project takes another step forward!

Life in Vacant Spaces (LiVS), a well-known charitable trust specialising in revitalising unused spaces, has been appointed as the long-term managers for the eagerly awaited Greater New Brighton Village Green Project. This community initiative aims to assist in transforming the New Brighton Mall into a vibrant hub for residents and visitors alike.

Since its establishment in 2012, LiVS has championed creative urban renewal by repurposing vacant areas throughout Ōtautahi Christchurch. Some of their local projects include the Roy Stokes Hall community venue and Common Ground in South Brighton. LiVS infuses these spaces with energy, functionality, and community engagement, enhancing local environments. (See more at www.livs.org.nz)

Elisha Blogg, LiVS’s director and a New Brighton local, is enthusiastic about collaborating closely with the community. Her goal is to bring the Village Green project to life, ensuring it aligns with residents’ needs and aspirations.

The Community Leadership Group (CLG) will continue leading the project until the new facilities are completed. Post-transition, the CLG will remain active as a governance body, overseeing ongoing development and success of the Village Green.

CLG anticipates continued collaboration with the New Brighton community, creating a dynamic space that reflects our collective vision for the future. Further updates will be shared as soon as we are able to finalise costings for the proposed work.
